Still two eggs in the pot plant, with a very chilled PPO keeping them warm. To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of the fact that an egg hasn't hatched yet. PPO laid the first egg on the 1st September.
I wonder if this has anything to do with last year's egg that wasn't viable? That was a first too - three eggs laid and only two hatched. Perhaps its an indication of a pattern that may well continue?
We'll have to sit tight for another week and see what happens.
It is troubling. She is getting older. I surely hope it turns out ok.
ReplyDeleteIt is a mystery . .that first egg should have hatched by now .. second egg should start pipping very soon .. I can't remember, did she start incubation immediately?
ReplyDeletewell, I'm gonna remain cautiously optimistic!!!

ReplyDeleteDid PPO lay an egg on the very day she arrived? I thought I'd seen you say, Tracy, that egg #1 was laid on 3 September :-/ Don't know about egg #2 except that there were 2 eggs by the 5th.
ReplyDeleteFingers and toes crossed for our lovely PPO, and for you too, Tracy, after all you've done. Am thinking positive! x

ReplyDeleteI'm wondering about the dates as well. I thought the 1st was when PPO Mom chose which potted plant to nest in. Then on Facebook it was listed as Sept 3rd for the first egg and Sept 5th for the second.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tracy and Allan for allowing us to view this beautiful owl family!
Fingers crossed, I really feel for her.
ReplyDeleteWill you have to remove the eggs in another week?
Do we have a hatch? OK. .Papa brought a treat, mom hasn't left like she normally does, she's pretty fidgety. . wishful thinking? I just can't tell. .
ReplyDeleteWell, bummer .. she just got up. . still two eggs. .
ReplyDeleteI am so hoping that some orphaned owlets can be placed into this pot, so that PPO & Pappa, do not have to experience the loss of zbabbies this year.
