  2. Hi Carol/Charms.

Hopefully this blog will take off as well as last years diary. The Web Cam is installed - the delay is getting an IT expert to link it to the internet. We have upgraded our DSL line to cope with higher speeds so the image is not too jerky.

At the moment the female (Mom) is sitting on 3 eggs. Its a bit boring for her and all concerned. But...

Last night we sat on the patio underneath her (drinking a beer) as the sun went down, about 6.00 pm. We could hear the male (Pappa) calling softly in the distance. Then we saw him fly from a palm tree about 70metres away to the greenbelt. Mom flew from her nest (above us) to the roof of the neighbours house to stretch her wings. Pappa went down to the ground and returned with a rat to a rooftop about 70 metres away. He gave 2 soft calls and Mom immediatelt left and flew to him. He gave her the rat and she started shredding it. He came to the roof by us to guard the nest. This all took place against the fading light. Once she returned to the nest, he went off to feed himself.

  3. Saturday 23rd.

Sitting on the patio preparing to braai, we watched Pappa on the roof of No. 19. Mom was in the greenbelt. I heard a dog yelp but thought little of it. A few minutes later it happened again. This time I turned to look in the direction of the yelp, in time to see Pappa rising onto No 20's roof. We went into the drive way to find the neighbours dogs cowering against the garage door. Their garden gate was open and they had ventured into the drive between us and their house. Pappa thought they were too close and attached. We moved then back into their garden - no harm done!

  4. Sunday 25th.

The WEB CAM is running. It appears to have a problem in the mornings - the video signal is lost. But close to midday it works.

  8. Hi Human Mommy & Daddy, what a terrific book!! I've renamed mine from Coffee Table Book to "Bedside Table Book" and read each word, sometimes going back to sections because it was soooo nice to read. Keeping my eyes and ears pierced waiting for the arrival of your new babies.
